WORLDWIDE RESPONSIBILITY News
By sponsoring a refrigerated van for the Lauterbacher Tafel (Lauterbach food bank) as part of their WORLDWIDE RESPONSIBILITY initiative, IFCO enables optimum transport of fresh produce.
Lauterbach/Pullach, 17.10.13 – during a celebration at the Mercedes car dealership at Umgehungsstraße 29-31, a refrigerated van was handed over to chairwoman Andrea Riedesel Freifrau zu Eisenbach and chairman Ulrich Baier, which is urgently needed for their daily work. The logistics provider IFCO, which is known for its green crates for fruit and vegetables, significantly contributed to the purchase by donating a sum of € 5,000.
"The refrigerated van is a great help for Lauterbacher Tafel. It makes it easier for us to transport fresh food quickly and in optimum quality to their destinations. Lauterbacher Tafel and the entire team are very grateful for IFCO's support", says Ulrich Baier.
Jürgen Schuler, IFCO SYSTEMS sales representative, was also pleased: "Hygiene and freshness are decisive factors in the logistics of fruit and vegetables. Both have to be guaranteed in each step of the logistic process, at the food bank level as well as for our retail customers. We are able to achieve this for the food banks by combining RPCs and refrigerated vans. We are delighted to be able to support a growing number of food banks thanks to WORLDWIDE RESPONSIBILITY."
As part of their WORLDWIDE RESPONSIBILITY initiative, IFCO is committed to financing refrigerated vans for food banks and, so far, has sponsored 37 vehicles. On an international level, food banks worldwide use more than 110,000 IFCO RPCs for delivering and storing the required food. These green crates are a hygienic and environmentally friendly alternative to cardboard one-way packaging and significantly help reduce disposal costs for the food banks.
